The Caja is that remarkable 100,000+ acre plateau that lies to the west/northwest of Santa Fe. I wrote extensively about it in a post titled History and Mystery in the New Mexico Landscape on my main blog. This painting captures a sense of that high desert landscape, with ravens intermingling with summer rain clouds.
